Netflix watch time calculator

Netflix doesn't show how many hours you've watched, but your data download does. ViewingActivity.csv, from Netflix's personal information request, has the real duration of every play. The quick Download all file from Viewing activity has titles and dates only, so hours from it are estimated.

The data request takes longer, sometimes days, but its ViewingActivity.csv has the start time and duration of every play on every profile. The instant download only lists titles and dates.

What gets counted

Every play of a show or film, for the time it actually played. Trailers, previews and other supplemental videos are left out. A show is grouped by the part of the title before the first colon, so every episode of a series adds to the same show.

How do I see how many hours I've watched on Netflix?

Request your data at netflix.com/account/getmyinfo. The download includes CONTENT_INTERACTION/ViewingActivity.csv with the start time and duration of every play. Drop it into this calculator for your total hours.

What's the difference between the two Netflix files?

Viewing activity › Download all gives NetflixViewingHistory.csv right away, with each title and date but no durations, so each title is counted as 40 minutes. The personal information request takes longer but gives ViewingActivity.csv with exact durations.

Are trailers and previews counted?

No. Rows Netflix marks as trailers, hooks or other supplemental video are left out, so autoplay previews don't inflate your total.

Can I see one profile?

Yes. ViewingActivity.csv covers every profile on the account. When there's more than one, pick a profile from the menu above the results.

What time zone are the times in?

Netflix records start times in UTC. The calculator converts them to your device's time zone for the hour-of-day chart.
